My name is Lindiwe Tom. I am a Clinical Psychologist working out of Sandton Medpark (opposite Sandton Medi-Clinic), Peter Place Street in Bryanston. I obtained my Bachelor of Arts (Hons) degree at Wits University and my Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology at the University of Pretoria. I then proceeded to do an internship at Sterkfontein Psychiatric Institution and concluded my training at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital where I did my community service. The training I received has been in-depth focusing on various aspects of mental health issues and emotional difficulties in general thus allowing me to work across the spectrum.
My areas of interest include but not restricted to individual psychotherapy, emotional and neuropsychological assessments, career assessment for high school children and school readiness assessments for children in Grade R or 0.
I would describe my therapeutic approach as eclectic as my approach is always case-specific.Therapy is therefore always person-centred and I may use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Systemic Therapy or Psychodynamic Therapy. In severe cases of mental illness, therapy may be supportive.
My sessions are conducted in the following languages: Zulu,Xhosa,or English.I also have a basic understanding of Sotho.
